Shoot 2004/6

This recent work from my current series uses the form and function of flora to present explicit sexual images conveyed through a ‘natural’ aesthetic more commonly associated with television ‘nature shows or pictorial nature calendars. Self-conscious sustainable societies overtly celebrate and preciously protect this perishing often elusive quality. The harmony and beauty of a healthy tree ‘with its intimate connection to earth and sky and ultimately life, is offered in parallel to a graphic depiction of human sexual connection in confronting detail. Viewed in association with the ‘Heavy Industry’ series, this work offers a range of questions in regard to our ability to celebrate life within the limitations to our conditioned sexuality.
